I'd love to tell you my books are worthy of consideration for the Booker Prize. I'd be lying. Instead, they're everyday, easy-to-read fiction: perfect for escaping a long commute, whiling away an evening curled up in front of the fire or keeping you entertained while you soak up a few rays on some exotic beach.
Kat, by K L MacRae, tells the story of Kat Farthing, a talented young martial artist who gets a much-needed break in life only to come up against someone who wants to take it all away. Set in the world of close protection (bodyguarding) and the underworld of assassination, this thrilling story of love, jealousy, violence and revenge is set in modern Britain and contains strong language, sex and violence. It is absolutely not for children.
Kat Farthing's story continues in my most recent novel, Dig Three Graves. Now back in London, Kat is being hounded by the press and one particularly vile individual who's determined to make her spill the beans about an operation she and Michael were involved in seven years ago. With all hell breaking loose, it's up to Kat and her team to sort out the mess or see everything ruined.
The Aura Shaper trilogy, by Karen MacRae, were inspired by my friend Ann Clark who spent a lifetime dedicated to healing others only to die much too young in early 2018. A Shaper's Promise begins the story of Anna, a young woman who cannot only see auras, but 'Shape' them. What's Shaping? Imagine you could reach inside someone's brain and change how it worked. Now imagine every living thing on the planet has an aura that's linked directly to their brain: to their thoughts, their actions, their beliefs, their everything... It's little wonder Aura Shaping is a crime punishable by death. If you can catch them.
In A Shaper's Promise, Anna gets embroiled in the fight against Nystrieth, the evil Shaper who's taken control of much of the neighbouring continent, and begins to learn just how powerful her own gift is. In A Shaper's Birthright, Anna discovers her calling, her heritage and her destiny. The final part of the trilogy, A Shaper's Farewell, sees Anna and her friends travel across the Oestrieth Sea to meet the Tribes of Maastra and, together, take on the evil Emperor in an epic battle that decides the fate of the world.
